2011 October Newsletter

Happy Fall! Hope everyone is settling into the school year! Here are your monthly reminders 

A. Turn your schedules in on time! All schedules are due by the 15th of the month. Please indicate what museum you are in when you submit your schedule requests. We used to say ‘you may not get your request’ but now it’s almost guaranteed that you will not get your requested dates if you turn it in late. So please, turn schedules in by the 15th of the month 
B. Due to the high number of active students {yay!} we may have to move your shift time or change your schedule. Make everyone’s lives easier and check the GOOGLE CALENDAR before coming in! If you have questions please ask us!
C. Arrive on time for your scheduled shift {obviously}
D. Remember, no pre-shift until the summer! Please be here 15 mins before your shift


Saturday, October 1, 8-12pm: ACT practice test. Sign up in Youthville if you would like to participate.

Wednesday October 5, 4-6pm YAC will vote on new officers. If you would like to learn more about YAC please join us

Saturday October 8, 10-2pm DECM/HIST Youth Photo Trip in the city.

Wednesday October 12, 4-6pm YA! Discuss Holiday Dinner. If you would like to learn more about YA! Please join us

Wednesday October 19, 4-6pm Mandatory OMNI Meeting. If you’re unable to attend, let us know or you will be marked as a NCNS and this could affect your chances of receiving a paid position in the future.

Friday October 28, 6-9pm Our Annual Halloween event. This year Haunted Mystery in MNHS and our 1st annual Costume Extravaganza. Prize to best costume.

Friday November 18, 6:30-9pm YA! Annual Holiday Dinner

CHM YOUTH: As we plan for the newly expanded Holiday Junction featuring the Duke Energy Trains we decided to add two supplemental training sessions in October, each offered twice. These are mandatory. Due to safety issues, if CHM youth do not attend the two sessions they will not be allowed to work on the museum floor between the dates of November 5th, through January 1st.

Session 1:
Saturday, October 15th, 10am-1pm

Sunday, October 16th, 10am-1pm

Session2:
Saturday, October 22nd, 10am-1pm
-or-
Sunday, October 23rd, 10am-1pm

Thanks to all the youth that varied their schedules and helped fill the LATE SHIFTS on the weekends (12-5 Sat and 1-6 Sun)!! We saw a major improvement in September! Remember, each Museum still needs 3-4 youth to work the late shift so please keep it up! If we are short on any given weekend, it will be necessary to schedule some of you on the later shifts. Please check the Google calendar to confirm your schedule.

CMC’s comp ticket procedure has changed! We no longer turn the forms into the kiosk so it is imperative that you turn the form into an YP coordinator so that we can follow the proper channels of submitting them. They are asking for 5 DAYS notice. Please keep that in mind when offering comp tickets to friends and family.

Follow the link next to your museum name. BOOKMARK the page so you can go back and view it any time you would like. If you only see a few names listed click on the actual day, that will bring the full list up. You can also view it in AGENDA and that will show everyone. Let us know if you have troubles!
