2011 September Newsletter
We had a great summer and are SO thankful for all the time and dedication you showed over the past few months. We received dozens of compliments about youth interacting with visitors and have seen some great friendships form with the new and current youth. We’re very excited to move into the school year and get back into the fall swing! You know what that means…ACT/SAT classes, YAC’s annual Halloween and Holiday events, museum overnights and more. Wahoo!
With the new school year starting here’s just a few things to keep in mind;
A. Turn your schedules in on time! All schedules are due by the 15th of the month. We used to say ‘you may not get your request’ but now it’s almost guaranteed that you will not get your requested dates if you turn it in late. So please, turn schedules in by the 15th of the month J
B. Due to the high number of active students {yay!} we may have to move your shift time or change your schedule. Make everyone’s lives easier and check the GOOGLE CALENDAR before coming in! If you have questions please ask us!
C. Arrive on time for your scheduled shift {obviously}
D. Starting in October there will be no pre-shift {wahoo! Wait…I mean booooo} but please arrive 15 minutes before your start time.
E. NO cell phones or any electronics are allowed on the floor. We know you have them, please don’t make your parents come pick them up from us.
F. Wear the proper uniform, pants up, shirts tucked in, closed toed shoes. Please.
G. If you need to change or adjust any work days, fill out an adjustment form (if you need an immediate change within a day or two please hand deliver it to a coordinator)
Saturday, September 3 10:00am: ACT Prep Test Workshop with Sylvan. Sign up in youthville if you would like to attend the workshop. Guardians are encourage to attend!
Friday September 9th: FREE FRIDAY! We need youth to sign up and help!
Sunday, September 11: Commemorating the 10th year anniversary of the attack on America with the Twin Towers in New York. We need 1 more student from CHM to sign up and need assistance for set up and clean up. An email will be coming soon with more details!

Saturday, September 17: DECM Supplemental Training 10am-1:00pm Mandatory for all DECM youth
Saturday/Sunday September 24/25: Business Partners Weekend at CMC!
October: Halloween event TBD
We’re seriously lean on the LATE SHIFTS on the weekends (12-5 Sat and 1-6 Sun). Each Museum needs 3-4 youth to work the late shift so please consider scheduling yourself for that time frame. If we are short on any given weekend, it will be necessary to schedule some of you on the later shifts. Please check the google calendar to confirm your schedule.
Youth Staff, Parents and Youths Accountability: Supplemental trainings and OMNI meetings are mandatory. If for any reason you are unable to attend it’s your responsibility to call in. We as Youth Staff will be making a more deliberate effort, holding all youth and guardians accountable to the progressive development of our youth. (Responsibility, accountability, respect and commitment)
If you would like comp tickets you must have Kristen’s signature before you turn the form into the kiosk. Do not turn in any forms without her signature! Remember, we do NOT get comp tickets for Cleopatra. You can get member pricing tickets for your family {$14.00 adult, $10.00 child}. Note: Cleo closes September 10th!

**If you are not receiving email from us please send one to us so that we can update your email address. Permission slips are emailed at the same time they are placed in youthville**
HOW TO VIEW GOOGLE CALENDARS
Follow the link next to your museum name. BOOKMARK the page so you can go back and view it any time you would like. If you only see a few names listed click on the actual day, that will bring the full list up. You can also view it in AGENDA and that will show everyone. Let us know if you have troubles!
